Legend has it that, 'When the Jacaranda Tree in the Quadrangle blooms, and you haven't started studying for exams, you're a goner.'

It bloomed. Damn.

What's so beautiful about this tree is, it's completely purple pink. Somehow or rather the leaves only grow in summer. And flakes of flowers fall when wind blows, it's an awesome view! 还有阵阵的花香。 有安抚人心的力量。

I better go. no, run. :)

I find that I'm easily amused.

Yesterday's skill test was the most grueling thing I've done in months. Five whole hour, in fact-six, i was one of the last to leave. I saw people leaving halfway though. Either they're too smart or they simply don't care. The excel on a Mac was a killer: We're only given 30minutes to construct all the formulas and tables, on Mac's excel, mind you. I never understood why people loved Mac. Ok, apple products are goodlooking, userfriendly(ipod) and interactive. But for office programs, i would really beg to differ. Couldn't even find the place to fix cells. I'm an idiot. Anyhow, I managed to finish the test and handed in the diagnostic report that i had burnt the night for.

Then a series of things I saw out of the norm.
Library sent me an email telling me the book I placed on hold (many months ago) is ready for collection! WOW. It's not an ordinary book. that book costs like 150 bucks its so hot that everyone else is requesting for a copy.
At victoria park A guy was playing 'Fly me to the moon' with a gargantuan unpolished saxaphone very loudly. Apparently he need to tune his instrument properly next time.
Then another tattoo guy was hugging his jukebox radio the size of a medium luggage bag, sitting on a bench and shaking with the music.
Fire engines came steering between cars to get to my suburb. There was a fire. It was like in action movie! everyone stopped to watch, as if time froze. haha. i love the way cars giving way to the big guy, when fire engines defy all traffic lights, road signs, supposed road direction on the monotonous street to save people. i've nv seen it before.
My landlord made extra meatpies for me! She, being a doctor, has never given me an impression that she can understand recipe books like amazing mrdaniel. I always see her reading thick pathological texts. haha. but anyway, the meatpie 很令我感动。已经有一段时间没有吃到热烘烘的家常菜了 (:

and now a baby cockroach is standing on my laptop, looking in my direction. -_-

See, I'm so easily amused with random events.

It's the 13th rainbow I've seen in my whole life! (Yes I counted) and 1st time in australia! This is the clearest, and the most complete one. I managed to catch the complete arc (end to end) when crossing the road; totally stunned. Could only take it on the road shoulder, so here's the half.

This is a sign. A good sign.

But things happened, and i recalled Le Chatelier's principle that when a system is disrupted, the equilibrium shifts to counter-act the imposed change. I got back my quiz: no mistakes. The afternoon test went smoothly. Then the weather suddenly turned cold the entire day when it was supposed to be hot. And the wind was so strong my umbrella was flipped onto the other side like a funnel in front of so many onlookers. And I nearly tripped on the way back. Force of nature right.

真的,有得必有失 leh. haha.

But anyway, it was a happy day. (:

There's this new lecturer. He's a french, or rather, he speaks english with a unique french accent. An associate prof in his 30s, but i heard he's very very experienced in his field. He's a funnyman, and makes it a point to explain really complicated procedures in layman's term. Could see that everyone enjoys his lectures. I wanted to record a short clip of his voice, cos it tickles e funny bone. Words like 'reduction' is pronounced with a classy french tone as 'redookshoon'. 'example' was emphasized with the 'le', which i assume is 'the' in french. 'S' becomes 'Z' and 'that' becomes 'dart'! LOL :)) Once after the lecture my friend rushed to me with pink cheeks and screamed 'OMG i asked him a question! OMG i can't imagine he just talked to me! he's so totally cute!!'

-_- wth.

He reminded me of ratatouille, french cuisine and red wine. i must be too hungry during lecture. heh

My school is now higher in ranking than melbourne! I'm not particular about this, but the school seems to be happy. And it's just one # below UCBerkeley! It was in the weekly newsletter. I personally don think its too accurate, because peking, dartmouth and washington is below 40. thats kind of impossible.

Anyhow, 3 more weeks to exams! I wanna make this work. (:

Australians ask the weirdest questions. and I've learnt the hard way. Like in the supermarket, they don't go by 'Hi, Good morning'. Aussies greets 'Hi, how are you?'. What's unusual is they don't expect an answer at all. Someone said 'How heavy was the rain?' I

AUD$ fell below SGD today! When i came it was 1AUD dollar : 1.3 Sing. Now it's like 1AUD : 0.9SGD! I hope it'll continue to weaken. Like 0.6 will be great!

I was told that Yishun Library will be moving to Northpoint! That's good news. And it'll be opening on 14th November. Just in time when I go back.

Photo of the day - Hungry Jacks. Australia's version of Burger King. the burger is HUGE. I think i'll eat it again tomorrow.

I got my exam timetable already. It's well spread out, luckily. I've been trying to find out about Summer School during holidays, which was believed to help me accelerate my degree. But seems like it's impossible to finish it, 'cos i'm only allowed 2 modules per holiday.

My mood plunged to the lowest today. Don't know why. I think i missed home.

I bought Krispy Kreme doughnuts yesterday. It was somewhat bigger than Donut Factory's, yet it's not THAT sweet. I tried the 'Sensational Strawberry' and 'Glazed Devil's Food'. There was satisfaction after the first bite. The chocolate devil tastes like sugar-glazed brownies. But of course, the doughnuts there are slightly pricier. 5+ for two.

It's finally the break. Got too bored yesterday and rekindled my childhood love for pokemon for a day! Went onto googling for the latest updates and found out that the Platinum version is out in japan! Nobody can feel the excitement that I have. Like. after playing the Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, LeafGreen, FireRed, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond and Pearl VERSIONS, (that's alot), i'd probably thought that the huge nintendo-game-market-manipulator-back-in-those-days will be short for ideas. This current one is actually quite exciting! Cuter creatures, nicer graphics. And the storyline now includes the Torn world, which depicts global warming and all the big issues.

We may call that escapism from the real world. It's the same reason why I love Heroes. My ex-Platoonmates who told me that Heroes is just another x-men series, and it's the same old plot for people with supernatural powers. But I gotta say it's different. There's more emphasis on how they cope with these abilities, and saving humanity. IT's more 'real' in a sense that, it brings hope to the audience. I'm always looking forward to seeing new powers in new casts, and how it manifests within them. Things like that will definitely not happen, but I like to believe in miracles.

Ok, the weather's treating me fine. Windy.

That day i went to the Medlibrary at bosch and conclude that fisherlib was better. Fisher was bigger! and have friendlier librarians. haha

My roommate was telling me about Daylight Saving Time! It's going to happen this sunday at 2am! IT didn't occur to me that I had to know about this. Sydney's time is going to accelerate by one hour! like in sg if its 6pm, it's going to be 9pm. It feels really good , the idea that human race is actually controlling time, and not the other way round.

The drawback is that I have to go online LATER than usual to see my family and dear flyermates. :\ DAMN.

I'm going out to buy some fruits.
